A construction business working with specialist trades and live project deadlines.
The company needed to arrange Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme training for 12 supervisors, with the option of including a Fire Marshal refresher alongside the main programme.
The challenge
The client understood the importance of supervisor training. The difficulty was finding suitable course availability without affecting critical work taking place on site.
Previous training options had been determined largely by the dates available from providers rather than the needs of the construction programme. This created delays, repeated rescheduling and the risk of supervisors remaining non-compliant for longer than necessary.
The client needed all 12 supervisors trained quickly, but could not afford to lose valuable site days or interrupt critical activities.
Our approach
We treated scheduling as an essential part of the training solution.
After reviewing the client’s programme and operational constraints, we presented a combination of options. Individual supervisors could attend suitable open courses, while a private session could be arranged for the wider cohort.
This flexible approach allowed the client to choose the most practical route for each member of the team without compromising the consistency of the training.
Communication was kept simple and centralised. The client received clear information covering dates, course requirements, preparation and what each delegate needed to bring. This reduced unnecessary emails, avoided confusion and limited the need for rescheduling.
The results
The completed training programme delivered measurable operational benefits:
- All 12 supervisors were trained without losing any scheduled site days.
- The time between the initial enquiry and achieving compliance was reduced from approximately six weeks to ten days.
- The client saved an estimated six to eight hours of administrative work through consolidated bookings and communication.
- Internal scoring for supervisor toolbox talks increased from 3.1 out of 5 to 4.4 out of 5 within 30 days.
