Evacuation Chairs

This Evacuation Chair training course ensures designated staff can safely assist mobility-impaired individuals down stairs during emergencies.

Our Evacuation Chair course blends theory with practical, hands-on stairwell operation to meet legal fire safety obligations. Training is generally conducted on-site and accommodates 8 to 12 delegates per session.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, employers have a legal duty to provide a safe means of escape for disabled and vulnerable individuals. Regular training keeps your team confident and ensures compliance with workplace safety legislation.

  • Theory: Legislation, fire safety, emergency plans, and risk assessments.
  • Practical: Hands-on experience deploying the chair, securing passengers safely, and descending stairs.
  • Maintenance: Proper storage, care, and servicing requirements of the equipment.

Participants receive a certificate of attendance or competency upon successful completion, which is typically recommended for renewal every 3 years.
